Presenting my very first challenge. Reduce-Reuse-Recycle: Rethink it! The purpose of this challenge is to help you reduce your consumption, expenses, and garbage by getting you to think about every aspect of the recycling logo. Break out of old habits and find new ways to reduce your consumption, reuse what you can in creative ways, and recycle everything else.
I've color-coded the three parts of the triangle to remind you of the steps you can take to lower your production of garbage.
Reduce – Stop and think before you buy. Stop and think before you use too much.
Reuse – Slow down before tossing it out. Find another use for it.
Recycle – Go ahead and recycle it for a new life if you’ve exhausted the other possibilities.
Join me, starting Saturday, for a week of rethinking your use, reuse, and recycling. That's January 12-18. You can grab the logo from the sidebar for your blog and leave me a comment if you want to be listed here as a participant. Then share what you are doing throughout the week.
More details to come!
Note: for those as technically inept as I, here's a way you can post the logo on the sidebar to your blog.
Select and copy this handy html. In your blog, from the Template settings, click on Add a Page Element. Choose the text option. Paste the copied html into the message space in a Text Page Element. It will show the button and include the link.

This dovetails nicely with my month of lessening disposables, so, sure, I'm in!
You got it, arduous. And you know something? I don't really think you're all that difficult. ;-)
Chile, I'm in. And thank you for the play by play on how to add a banner. I'm so technologically inept that I spent a day trying to figure this out and eventually gave up. :)
Anyway, great challenge. It really pays to pay attention to what you put in the can. I'll see what I can "repurpose". :)
Reduce Reuse Recycle...You bet I'm in!
In trying to save on plastic, I have stopped purchasing garbage bags...When I am out of Maggie's Soap Nuts, I use baking soda wash for our laundry needs -no plastic, no harm...sewing my children clothes and such from thrifted finds...I love this challenge!
Cheers!
Chile, Got the banner up and running. Thanks for code.
Chile, I've got a lot going on that week so it will be tough for me. But how can I pass up such an excellent challenge? Count me in!
Welcome to the Challenge, Green Bean, Myshell, and Melinda! We'll have fun. Part of the point of this is to come up with and share new ideas beyond what you already do. If it's just the same ol', same ol', that wouldn't be much of a challenge now, would it?
Finding new ways to reduce our impact is a constant challenge. I love that you put it out here in blogosphere land. It has me thinking of even more ways to RRR. Cheers!
I'm in!
O.k., will do. Fun, fun! shannon
count me in:)
I'm finally back online and catching up on posts and challenges. I didn't think I would take the challenge because we are still settling in to the new place but, heck, why not! It's really helping me to re-think my consumption. I'm not as creative as most of you all yet but at least I'm trying, right?!
It's never too late to join, Amber, and all of us can learn new tricks! Welcome.
Count me in! It absolutely fits with our family's regime of 'less is best'.
Now - if only I can get my mother to stop buying the kids so much stuff!
I am a really late joiner...can I be a really late joiner, and then just do it for a week starting right now?
....a week or longer that is....
Sure, Theresa. My hope is that the concepts behind this will keep carrying on in people's lives regardless of whether the actual challenge is going or not. Looking forward to seeing what you do next week (and beyond!)
Welcome to you a bit late, too, Daharja!
Ahhhh...better late than never!
