Message to My Sweetie from Polie

Hi Daddy!

Miss me? I miss you - you left soooo long ago!

A spider just tried to crawl up my butt. It was very scary. I tried to catch it. It had too many legs! They poked at my nose. Mom killed it for me.

Mom doesn't want spiders up my butt. I don't either! She thinks I'd go crazy.

Please block the big gap by the door so no more creepy crawly things get in.

Thank you, Daddy! Are you on your way home now? Somebody's gotta scratch my ears.

Polie

Miss Chile, you are too funny! I am not a spider fan either. Yesterday, after doing some outside chores, I must have carried a jumping spider in with me. I was swatting at it and it was trying to get away. Finally, I won. Have a wonderful day!

why would a spider up polies butt affect his brain???

Michelle - I can deal with small non-venomous (to humans) spiders okay. But larger ones or the venomous ones freak me out a bit.

Rob - brain? I just said it'd make him crazy. Wouldn't a spider up anyone's butt make them crazy?!

Robj98168 - lordy, that's such an easy one...lol

Don't like spiders of any kind but won't go out of my way to harm them. They do get alot of other critters...just have too many legs...not their fault...

My treatment of spiders depends on where they are. Outside is their habitat and they are usually safe from me. (Black widows are dispatched if they are anywhere close to the house or where the dogs go.)

Inside is my habitat and multi-legged intruders are not welcome. :)

I quite like the jumping spiders round here and I just clean up webs every so often round the house whilst trying not to get the spiders as they do dispose of all the other bugs.

We don't have much in the way of poisonous bugs of any sort so that isn't an issue either.

We do have katipo spiders but they live outside and further north than here. There is a colony of false katipos in the basement but they don't like light and will keep well out of sight unless you're very lucky (unlucky?). There are wetas too but only the smaller sort.

For years I was totally paranoid about insects and dogs. I decided I just couldn't live like that any more so I simply pushed myself to get over it. Mostly it has worked although I wouldn't necessarily pick up a large spider, I certainly don't run any more and feel quite safe with them around. The dog thing has left me with a dislike of the smell only. I still have a decided preference for cats I'm afraid :) Although I fell in love with my Aunt's chihuahua...
